Lumiére: A Midsummer Twilight

Bonjour mon amie (hi my friend),

Yes, I've been practicing my French...professor François will be so proud :'). So it's week 5 of uni life in NTU's Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information and I have to say: it's pretty awesome.

We've had events like Reverb, Homecoming Bash and Lumiére. All of them include my talented course mates performing... Sigh I wish I could sing lol. But anyway today I'm gonna focus on our dinner and dance event Lumiére because it involved tons of food, a hotel and beautiful gowns.

Held at Hotel Fort Canning, WKW freshies donned extravagant gowns and suits as they prepare to shove scrumptious hotel food down their digestive systems. They were also especially excited to see their friends up on stage as pageantees, singers and dancers.

Did I forget to mention? I was part of the junior FrancisCo group which is a dance crew formed by our WKW seniors. We are their successors hehehe and we performed with them hohoho. But I think we're called The wRong Way? Because we have a member called Rong Wei and I'm called Yun Rong so it further emphasises the pun. lel.

Anyway, enough talking, time to show you the wonderful pictures (which is the main point of this post hehehe).

Look at them beautiful faces~ This is FrancisCo plus The wRong Way

My tall friends :') (low-key amazed cuz i'm 1.7m but they even taller)

My ratchet ass party friends cheering on pageant King Eugene Tang who just completed a race.

Party friends vogueing to our King.

Trophy king.

Isit Kendall, Gigi and Cara???

Cheers,
Yun Rong

The Start of Something New (yes I know... cheesy af)

HEYYYY

As the title suggests, this post is gonna be about the start of something new: university life. I'm currently a freshie in NTU's Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and information. I was pretty stoked about starting school because after working for more than half a year, I figured the student life is way more fun. Had to say goodbye to my wonderful colleagues at TNP and start anew! (low-key cringing at the cheesiness of it all)

Also, my hair colour changed at least three times within a week. I've explained this to many people but here goes: I bought La Riche Directions in the colour "plum" but this particular shade of purple changes to blue then to turquoise and then eventually green. That's why my hair colour constantly changes simply because of the formula of the dye and not because I'm dyeing it every day lolololol.

Anyway, uni life has been great so far. Made a couple of awesome friends as you can tell in the pictures below. So far the workload is still manageable. All the courses are pretty interesting including the modules I've took before (media law, interpersonal communication etc.). ALSO, I'm taking French level 1!!! Bonjour. Je m'appelle Yun Rong. Ça va?

Can't wait to go for study exchange and immersion trips... Super excited for the future. Anyway, I'll let the pictures do the talking. STOKED AF.

This is Titor. Titor is my orientation group in WKWSCI. These are my friends.

These are my good friends. From left: Eugene, me, Zhi Xin, Charlene and Danelia.

These are my good good friends.

These are my best friends.

This is me being all goodie-two-shoes with the limited edition NTU jacket.

Hmm where did the wind come from.

Yes. School is for OOTDs and stepping.

Wooosh. That's it. Gonna blog about dinner and dance in the next post. Have a great day hehehehehehehe.

Cheers,
Yun Rong

Cityhall Day Out

Hello there,

Felt a sense of nostalgia while listening to my fave Paramore songs (it was like I was still in the 2011 concert) and decided that I needed a karaoke sesh with my girl Joelle since she likes Paramore too.

We went to K Suites at Orchard Parade Hotel. As students, they charged us $18 each for three hours of karaoke and a drink. I found the price pretty ok I guess since we had such a huge room. They even provided blankets and bedroom slippers LOL. We had a great time of course... started of with Paramore then Demi Lovato, Panic! At the Disco, Rihanna, Zedd, Evanescence, Avril Lavigne and many more. Tbh three hours isn't a long time.

Was gonna visit one of our course mates at Barbershop at Timbre because she was gonna perform there but the place was so crammed and lacking (no waiters to serve us food) so we left for substation's Timbre and it was awesome. Ordered a weird looking pizza but it turned out pretty darn amazing. The base was like cheese and duck and it was topped with crispies and hoi sin sauce (the sauce that goes with crispy duck in Chinese restaurants). It's so Chinese and I love it. I also ordered beer and Joelle ordered two drinks: apple juice and Shirley Temple (refreshing lime juice mixed with something else).

Here are some of the pics Joelle helped to take along the way featuring my mother's vintage Hard Rock Cafe oversized denim jacket hehehe:

Valentine's Day???

Hello there,

Well after being a journalist for six months, I finally appreciate the joy of writing a blog post - I don't have to care about grammar and accuracy wooooo. Feels gr8.

Anyway, judging from the title of this post, you must be wondering if I accidentally punched in three question marks. No, I was genuinely puzzled.

I wanted to go out and shoot lower seletar reservoir before I lend my camera to my girl Stefanie. So I asked my homie Junkeat out on Sunday since it was already Friday? Gosh I can't even remember but it was towards the end of my internship so that weekend was the only time we were free. And bam, it was Valentine's Day. I guess I was happy? Better to spend Vday out than at home on my Macbook right?

Turns out lower seletar reservoir is actually pretty small with nothing much to photograph so we ended up taking more selfies. Also, before we took our solo pics, it started drizzling. So each of us had only like 10 frames each? Talk about supermodel skills man. Here are the pics:

yum

r u gettin dizzy
omg faster take faster take, gonna rain

After this, I went to the airport with Clare and fetched my girl Valencia who just came back from her 6-month internship at Cambodia!!! I've been texting her like every single day for the past six months. You have no idea how we've been so committed to each other... Her mother even thought I was her boyfriend (mainly cuz Yun Rong is a unisex name, don't judge). Just nice she arrive on Valentine's Day too... So romantic.

End of Internship // Clubbing

Hello,

So... I've been pretty (very) inactive here for the past six months. In case you're wondering, I interned at The New Paper at Singapore Press Holdings as an intern journalist from Sept 7, 2015 to Feb 12, 2016. Did I mention that this was also my final semester in Ngee Ann Poly??? I know right, time flies like mad.

Was pretty much writing or interviewing people every day. I covered the general elections' polling day, haze, transgender issues, child sexual abuse cases, robbery etc. It was hella fun but I'm glad it's over too so I can chill and travel.

The smell of freedom was so invigorating... My squad and I went to Club Kyo on our last day of internship because... we can. Thanks to Joelle for inviting us because her uncle was DJ-ing that night.

Everything went well until the next morning where I felt like shit. Then I realised that I shouldn't have drunk a pint of beer, followed by whisky coke, a shot of I don't know what, vodka sprite and gin sprite. What a bad idea I know... But that night I really forgot that we can't mix alcohol. Plus it felt really good and the high lasted for a good amount of time. Oh well, it was still damn fun with the A+ company I had.

Yay, cheers to #nomorepoly and here comes #bangkokblock!!!
